Mixed Bag
Although the bartenders were nice and the people seemed cool, the same could not be said about the owner (or at least the female one). Was introduced to her by a mutual friend and she was down right nasty. That could be because she was rip roaring drunk, but thats not excuse. The word from my pal is to stay away on Friday nights when she's there. I think I will just not be bothered.
A Gay Sports Bar; Really
After having dinner at Tropics I stopped by the place, and was greeted by a friendly doorman. Then it all became surreal, a barrage of video screens with all kind of sport events. Peanut baskets everywhere, bartenders as friendly as alligators, and enough pool table to hold a major tournament. All well done I must admit, but was unable to capture the nuance or able strike a conversations; very intense gay devotees of sports: a first for me.
What Purpose That It Serve?
I walked in to see like 8 pool tables, dart throwing machines, sports on the video screens, and peanuts baskets on tables. I felt like I crashed into a meeting of The Antisocial Club. The bartender came only after another patron queue him as to my presence. No chit-chat from the patrons sitting around fixated on the pool games, dart throwing, or the sports videos. Went to the bathroom then stopped to get a different angle, like this is surreal; whats the theme of the place. I finally asked someone if I could grab a few peanuts from their table, and they handed me the basket. I quietly walked out before being assimilated by the collective.
I live in wilton manors and frequent this place. While i do have a fondness for it, and love that it's just a normal bar with gay patrons, it is very cliquey... Rather tough to meet new people here. However, go see Evan at the wall bar - he's the man.
Best run bar I've been to in a long time.
I don't care much for sports but this bar I kept ending up at because of the staff. I was there one time days before and Dean remembered me and shook my hand. I was very impressed by their diligence. Handsome crowd too.
