An Unwelcoming Experience
The owner was very friendly while showing us around the resort. However when I attempted to negotiate a better price on the room, he became very testy with me and suggested that we stay at "The W" (The Worthington Resort). He originally offered my party a price for one night that included a 3rd person surcharge but was willing to waive the surcharge and offer a lower rate if we stayed for two nights. Since my party wasn't sure if they wanted to stay the 2 nights, I asked the owner if he could waive the surcharge if we stayed for one night. His attitude changed in an instant, and then he told us we should stay elsewhere. I even apologized to him if he felt offended, but I told him this is business. His rudeness took me by surprise. Fortunately I've been to Ft. Lauderdale in the past and had a wonderful experience at the Worthington Resort. However, I can't imagine what a negative impression this man would have placed on this city had this been my first visit. His arrogance was shameful to say the least. Beware! We ended up staying at the Dunes Resort and met some nice guys who had a similar run in with the owner at the Elysium. What a small world!
wonderful stay, again.
my second visit to Elysium was the same as my first. clean rooms and grounds, friendly and helpful staff, and a diverse group of friendly fellow guests. a great place for a break from real world drama.
You get what you pay for
If you're looking for 5* treatment go elsewhere, but I found the property and staff more than welcoming. The continental breakfast was more than sustaining; the rooms were clean; and the grounds immaculate. The staff was more than helpful and answered every question I tossed at them. I will stay there again.
I'd skip it too
We stayed for 2 weeks, in the beginning of our stay the owner would not let us have a guest over to play scrabble because he had trouble with another visitor the day before. (I asked if he would like us to leave and find other accomodations and he replied "NO--WHY DON'T YOU JUST GO TO THE BEACH WITH HIM" Then another guest was a problem so he threw him out, even coming to the poolside yelling at him in front of everyone. We did not attend any happy-hours. We were happy to just leave and get off the pins and needles when our vacation ended. Sorry, no-one likes to be negative but I've been chewing on this for a year.
