Sunday I was reminded why I am an activist in our community. I speak of this often when I encourage people to support our chapter and to come to our meetings. Sunday I was reminded why I am an activist in our community. I speak of this often when I encourage people to support our chapter and to come to our meetings. We are a community that still lives in fear of attacks of how we were born. It is a sad day when that fear surfaces in such a horrible attack on the lives of our community. I know everyone is saddened, shocked and sickened by this tragedy. I have spent the day trying to reach out to friends in Orlando and across the country to tell them I love them and we will stand strong and make a difference in the community. We need to bring some light from this darkness and show our PRIDE to the world that we will not be broken.
I am asking again to come and join us next Saturday, June 18, 2016 for the Wilton Manors Stonewall Parade and Festival. I am suggesting that we all wear white T-shirts or you can buy a PFLAG T-shirt at this website http://www.cafepress.com/+pflag+t-shirts.
We will begin to line up around 4:30 PM for the parade will begin at 6:00 PM. I have not received details for the line up but we usually are set up in the Ft. Lauderdale High School parking lot. https://goo.gl/maps/5hCoGCGGg4F2
You will need to arrive early as parking can be hectic and I would suggest to Uber and walk over if possible. Please call me directly if the logistics are an issue and I will help you make it there. The parade is an important day for our community and we need to show the love that PFLAG has for our families and friends after this tragedy. Please let your hearts and voices be heard next Saturday.
I will continue to post and share any other ways we can help those impacted by this tragedy. PFLAG has always helped one person at a time, but now we have 49 and 53 more reasons to be there for our community.
Please reach out to me with any questions and I will be in Ft. Lauderdale ready to show my PRIDE on Saturday. Please join me!
Sending love for our community!
