Ed Lugo Resort

(52 Ratings)
Gay-friendly guesthouse

The rooms are very nice, and some feature full kitchens and living rooms, but it's all about the beautiful pool at Ed Lugo Resort. Enjoy the view from your tropical shower. Not a men-only resort, but located in Wilton Manors and is very gay-friendly.

My husband and I booked the garden king suite with the private outdoor showers and we had a truly extraordinary and unparalleled experience. We cannot wait to book a return trip to Ed Lugo Resort. The resort is comprised of several buildings on both sides of NE 8th St, and our accommodations were across the street from those surrounding the beautiful, heated pool & waterfall. No matter, though, as our room had access to other private, beautifully landscaped grounds full of mature, tropical foliage and well-appointed outdoor furniture. Plus private outdoor showers! I'm not one to get naked outdoors, but let me tell you- it's quite a unique & cathartic experience to shower under palm trees and the Florida sky (behind the privacy of high fencing, of course). The main grounds were wonderful. It was uncharacteristically cold when we visited Ft. Lauderdale, but it didn't stop us from enjoying the heated pool each night. The pool was lit beautifully and heated well, so we were able to take a dip even at 2am (with outdoor temperatures in the 50s). Interiors-wise, the suite had a great big kitchen (we didn't really get to use it, so many great restaurants and things to do in the area!) and plenty of space. It had a decidedly home-y field, instead of the usual corporate hotel decor. We really liked it. Service was great and Ed personally walked us through the grounds and the room. All around: A+ experience.

Ed and his staff make you feel like you are staying at their own home. Chilled shot at check in followed by a personal tour of the resort and finally a tour of your room complete with fresh warm cookies waiting for you. It's just a few minute walk from many restaurants and bars and if you are looking for anything, just ask Ed! He is a wealth of knowledge about the area from drink specials to beach hangouts. We will be back soon!

Wonderful gaycation

I had never been to Fort Lauderdale, so I was really taking a leap of faith with all my choices. This resort has such an overwhelming number of positive reviews, I figured it was a safe bet and it paid off big time. Colleen was super attentive and accommodating, and I really felt like I was at home away from home. My room was beautifully decorated and well maintained, and you're literally steps away from the pool. I ventured out a little bit here and there, and everything you could want is within walking distance (grocery store, restaurants, bars, nightclubs), but I spent most of my time quietly enjoying this little oasis. I'm looking forward to my next trip here. Thank you so much!

Excellent Location; Gorgeous Hotel.

Upon my arrival the very friendly owner of this resort, Ed, welcomed me to his hotel with an alcoholic drink of my choice. A genuinely lovely person. My room was very spacious, including a dining area and a kitchen. The bathroom was very modern and I felt at home. The bed was SUPER comfortable and the Christmas decorations outside were fabulous. The beautiful waterfall pool was heated to the perfect temperature and I couldn't help but have several swims a day. It was wonderful! I really enjoyed my stay at this hotel and can't wait until I come back. You know it's a good hotel when you can't wait to come back. :)

Mark and Alan's review.

Me and my partner Alan stayed here for three nights at the end of January before going on the Atlantis Caribbean cruise from Port Everglades. We had a great time. All the apartments are different and are very nicely furnished. Fridge, snacks and coffee in your room. Lots of room in the grounds for sunbathing and there is a wonderful pool with a fountain and a hot tub too. The resort is located 5 minutes walk to the shops, bars and restaurants of Wilton Manors. Very nice stay. Thanks Ed. We hope to come to come back.
