Barry Gross introduces photographer Susan Caplan this month in a show aptly entitled "Dimensions in Culture" which runs from Sep 7-28.
Susan's first inspiration was her Dad, who was an avid photographer. He was the one who provided her with her first camera and even built a darkroom in the basement, where they spent hours together developing film and printing images.
Susan continued to shoot wherever she went, and during the late 70's began shooting images of musicians and performers in general.
She discovered she had a knack for grabbing that special shot, and she's been honing that skill ever since. She also became involved a few years ago with HDR (High Dynamic Range) shooting and processing and that is mostly what she likes to shoot when there are no performers around. HDR really enhances landscape photography and the possibilities are endless.
Susan has self-published two books and one of her fireworks shots was published in Walter Foster Publishing's "The Daily Book of Photography, 365 readings that teach, inspire and entertain".
