CLOSED: Cathode Ray

This bar is now closed, with the building being sold. As of the date of this review, the building is vacant.

The old Cathode Ray bar used to be hot back in the 1990s. Used to be cool, but definitely not so anymore. The crowd is a now mostly 30-something and 40-something-ish, professional, BMW-driving, Prada-wearing, pretentious stiffs. Not much diversity to be found here either. If you're looking for a fun bar Georgie's Alibi is a better place to hang out.

I visit this club everytime I visit Ft Lauderdale. It's a mixed male crowd, large club, and the owner was really friendly, good customer service, Great crowd.

Cathode Ray boasts the hottest clientele in town. They might be correct.

As a former SOBE boy, I found Cathode Ray offered a refreshing change to the Miami haunts, with more "all-American" types. On Saturday nights this is a great stop-off before going "out out" to the Coliseum on Saturdays, where there would tend to be cute boys up until about midnight. It gets a bit trollier later, when the Coliseum gets hopping. Friday nights can be good, as well. Other nights are more hit-or-miss.
